First edition published by Nash & Grayson in January 1925 at 7/6.

Newnes issued the cheap edition and probably reprinted for several years from an unchanged textblock. It is possible Newnes used the N&G plates given the first edition printing statement and atypical Newnes typeface. 

The copy shown is the first Newnes issue as William - The Conqueror, which was published in March 1926, is the last Crompton title listed in the blurb on rear panel.

The dustjacket illustration is uncredited. The text is unillustrated. 

‘First Published in 1925’ stated to rear of title page. 

No front free endpaper. Single rear free endpaper.

‘By the same author’ list has six titles up to ‘CAMILLA IN A CARAVAN’.

Red boards with black titles to spine and front cover.
